IVANOV, V. and BUROVA, O. Comrades Soldiers and Sailors, Commanders and Commissars, Partisan Men and Women! The Whole World Sees in You a Force Capable of Destroying the Marauding Hordes of German Invaders, 1942
Tovarishi krasnoarmeitsy i krasnoflotsy, comandiry i politrabotniki, partizany i partizanki! Ves' mir smotrit na vas kak na silu sposobnuyu unchtozhit' grabitel'skiye polchisha nemetzkikh zakhvatchikov. [Comrades Soldiers and Sailors, Commanders and Comissars, Partisan Men and Women! The Whole World Sees in You a Force Capable of Destroying the Marauding Hordes of German Invaders], a poster by Viktor Ivanov (1909-1968, Meritorious Art Worker of the Russian Federation) and Olga Burova (1911-?). Iskusstvo, Moscow -Leningrad, 1942, 87.5 x 58 cm.
Once again, the poster's caption comes from the November 1941 Stalin's speech at the military parade marking the anniversary of October Revolution that, when given, sounded almost like the last stand call - Germans were rapidly approaching Moscow, and Soviet troops taking part in the parade, were immediately dispatched to the front lines.
For information about Ivanov, see the previous lot. We know little about Olga Burova, his regular collaborator through the 1940s , except for the fact that she was his wife. While Burova's role appears to be more of an assistant helping to convert Ivanov's designs into a finished product (several jointly signed posters have only Ivanov's name inscribed in-plate), we have also seen two posters signed by Burova alone.
